Franklin Douglis, MD
Happy to be in Texas, Dr. Douglis grew up in Maryland and went to high school in Silver Spring, Maryland and Oxford, England. After graduating from Brown University with honors, he went to medical school at the University of Maryland in Baltimore. After completing his surgical training in Pennsylvania and his specialty training in Baltimore, he came directly to Texas (and yes his kids all “bleed orange”).
He earned his Board Certification from the American Board of Otolaryngology in 1983 and has been a member of the American Academy of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery and practiced in the Conroe and Spring area since. Dr. Douglis continued to be interested in general medicine and health and in 2010, he earned his board certification in Sleep medicine.
Dr Douglis is a strong advocate for education and has volunteered time as a Clinical Assistant Professor, Department of Family Medicine for The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston and regulars invites residents from the Lone Star Family Practice residency program to rotate through his office. Always interested in general health and nutrition, Dr. Douglis is on the medical board for Ideal Protein and lectures on the physiology and the reversal of metabolic syndrome and improvement of sleep apnea. He is the current president of the Montgomery County Medical Society.
He was fascinated by the specialty of Ear Nose Throat Head and Neck Surgery because it encompassed a wide range of medical problems ranging from allergies to cancer, a range of patients including children and adults and surgery ranging from large cancer surgeries and reconstructions to microsurgery of the ear and facial cosmetic surgery. He has been delighted to expand upon this platform to include other health issues important to his patients.
Although treating sleep problems improved lives for many patients, he felt that many patients required something more to achieve the healthy happy lifestyle we all yearn for. More recently he has integrated a protocol for reversing metabolic syndrome through diet and lifestyle and improving sleep and general health through hormonal replacement using the BioTE method. He is a certified BioTE provider.
Dr. Douglis has three children and has been married to their mother since 1977. He has studied Hapkido, for 25 years and participated in a demonstration of this art at the White House years ago. He and his family enjoy trips to Disney World.
Dr. Douglis has recently been recognized as a Top Texas Doctor in 2022.
